Basement Remodeling & Finished Basements in Richboro, PA

Richboro Is Part of Northampton Township

Richboro is not its own town government. It is one of the communities that make up Northampton Township, along with Churchville and Holland. The township has been around since 1722, and its administration building sits right here in Richboro on Township Road. That is where basement permits for Richboro homes are handled.

Northampton Has Its Own Finished Basement Rules

Northampton Township publishes its own Finished Basement Requirements sheet for homeowners and contractors. Basement projects usually need a building permit, and the township has separate electrical, plumbing, and mechanical permit applications when that work is part of the job. We follow the township's basement requirements and pull every permit before work begins.

What the Township Inspects

Under township code, home projects are inspected in stages. For a basement, that can include framing, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, wallboard (drywall), and a final inspection. Each stage has to pass before the next one is covered up, which is one more reason to plan the work in the right order. See the full order in our guide on how to finish a basement.

Basement Bedrooms and Egress

If you want a bedroom in your basement, it needs an egress window so there is a safe way out. Read our guide to basement egress requirements.
